HI! My husband’s tax refund for the next 2 years will go right back to the IRS for a debt he occurred to them before we were married (we got married 1 year ago). Since I am due a tax refund this year, is there any way of filing where I will actually get the refund due to me & it won’t go toward his debt? I realize when married his debt is mine & vice versa. I just wanted to know if there was any way.

Recently I started a small business. Now I am planning to have employees. I have incorporated my business in VA and have obtained Federal tax id number. I realized that I also need to have a state tax id. I have heard that I can obtain it online. I attempted searching for it but did not find any useful links. I did get lots of site that can do it for me for a charge, but what I am looking for is a government website where I can do it myself. Any help is appreciated.

I owed $1100 for 2007. I am current on my payments with the IRS, in fact ahead of the payment schedule. I filed electronically through turbo tax. Will I still get a refund? The last 2 digits of my ss are 21, and co workers have already started to get their rebates today, but I have not.

In addition, the Congressional Budget Office states that the bill also levies almost $69 billion more in penalties for those who fail to meet mandates to buy insurance. The Journal of Accountancy boils down some of the tax hikes and penalty fees in HR 3590 and the Reconciliation Act the highlights include: Excise Tax on Uninsured Individuals Individuals who fail to maintain minimum essential coverage will be subject to a penalty equal to $750. The fee for an uninsured individual under age 18 is one-half of the adult fee. Excise Tax on High-Cost Employer Plans The federal government would impose a 40% tax on the value of employer-sponsored health coverage exceeding certain thresholds.
